Do You Deserve Your Client’s Loyalty?

first_imgIf you left your company would your clients come with you? Or would they continue to do business with your company? If your clients had to go through the trouble of changing partners to retain you, would it be worth the time and the trouble to switch just to keep you? Would they believe the switching costs are too high to recoup by moving with you to your new company? If your new company had a higher price, would your client pay that price, knowing that the premium they pay to keep you will be more than offset by the value you create? Would a higher price prevent them from moving because they believe that no greater value could be generated by working with you?If your client was asked about what they do in your category, would they recommend you unequivocally? More to the point, would they send an email introducing you to make sure that you could engage the person and company who needs the help you can provide? Would they stay silent, not really believing that you make a difference worth bragging about? If a new leader was hired into your client’s company, would your contacts and the rest of the organization defend you from being displaced, regardless of the initiative, and regardless of the political fallout? Would they suggest that you are indispensable? Or, would they allow you to be displaced simply because the new leader needs change, and you are difficult to defend? If your main contact left their role with your existing client, would they take you with them to their next job because they couldn’t imagine not having you there to help them? Would they make waves in their new role because you are vital to their success? If you recommended a complicated, disruptive change, would your client walk down that path with you, even if it was going to stir up the hornet’s nest of resistance that comes with a real change initiative? Would they believe that it isn’t worth the trouble to exert the energy to help you make change in their organization because you haven’t proven you will execute? Essential Reading! Why did Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha commit suicide? Police clueless

first_imgA day after noted singer Asha Bhosale’s daughter Varsha committed suicide at her home in Peddar Road, the Gamdevi police in Mumbai still have no clue why the singer’s daughter took such a step. Investigations have been moving at a slow pace as the police have not been able to question Varsha’s family members. According to Gamdevi police officials when ever they tried questioning the family most of them broke down.”The family is still is in a state of shock, and despite our numerous attempts since Tuesday morning, we haven’t been able to get much insight into the reason why she (Varsha) took such a drastic step,” said an officer from the Gamdevi police. Police officials said that they would be looking at two scenarios; whether Varsha had got some news that immediately depressed her or whether she was depressed because of some development that happened a few days back. The police are hence trying to find out whether Varsha, who was depressed, received or made any phone calls before shooting herself. The police would now be scrutinizing her call records to see if any such call acted as the trigger. The calls are important as Varsha’s driver and her maid have told the police that they did not notice anything amiss in her behaviour when they saw her last at 4.30 pm on Sunday. Police officials believe that Varsha committed suicide sometime during the night. The police are also investigating who owns the .22 Browning pistol with which Asha shot herself. The police have a record of two licenced guns in the family. While one .32 pistol belongs to Asha Bhosale’s brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar, her son Anand owns a .45 pistol. The Bhosle family members till now have not been able to shed any light on who the gun belonged to. Police officials said that if the gun was licenced then the owner could face a case under the Arms Act as one of the conditions of the licence is to see that the licensee should keep the gun out of the reach of any one except him. If the gun is unlicensed then the police investigation would concentrate on how did Varsha lay her hands on the pistol.advertisementVarsha commits suicide Varsha Bhosle, daughter of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, allegedly committed suicide on Monday by shooting herself with a licenced gun at her South Mumbai residence.Varsha’s body was discovered in a pool of blood by her maid servant and driver early on Monday morning. Varsha was known to be depressed for a long time and had attempted suicide on two occasions in the past.Varsha, 56, was a singer and a former columnist for web portals and magazines and had a history of depression for which she was undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Jaslok Hospital. Varsha had reportedly attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills in 2008.However, the family maintained that her previous attempts were actually adverse reactions to medicines.Sources close to the family, however, said that Varsha was indeed undergoing psychiatric treatment for a better part of the last few years. On Monday, Asha’s driver and maid discovered Varsha’s blood soaked body on the sofa of their ‘Prabhu Kunj’ residence at Peddar Road in Mumbai. Asha was away in Singapore for an event on Marathi music.Varsha’s aunt and Asha’s older sister, Lata Mangeshkar, who resides in the adjacent flat was also not at home. It was early morning when Asha’s maid Deepali arrived as usual and knocked at Asha’s door. When no one answered, she went down to the driver to ask him if Varsha was at home.”The driver told her that it is possible that Varsha might be sleeping. Deepali returned a couple of hours later to still find no answer to the door. This is when, worried, she rushed to the driver and asked him to enter the house. The driver then entered Ashaji’s house from Lataji’s flat and found Varsha’s body,” a police officer said.Police have said that Varsha used a licenced gun to shoot herself in the head. They are now investigating who the gun belongs to. Varsha, however, has left no suicide note in the house.”We are awaiting the post-mortem report from JJ Hospital, where the body was taken for autopsy. We are also waiting for Ashaji to arrive. We will be able to get clarity on who owned the weapon and also on the mental state of her daughter immediately before she may have taken the drastic step. As of now, it is the case of an accidental death. When we are through with the investigations, we’ll be able to arrive at the exact nature of the death,” said a senior officer. The police have also said that primary investigation has brought to their notice that Varsha was suffering from severe depression after the death of noted fashion photographer Gautam Rajadakshya, who she was very close to. Rajadakshya passed away last year.Varsha, who was Asha’s daughter from her first marriage to Ganpatrao Bhosle, used to live with Asha at Peddar Road and also their apartment in suburban Khar. She had been living with Asha for many years, especially after her divorce from her husband, Hemant Kenkre, who is a freelance sports writer.Varsha had written a few articles in praise of her mother for websites. Asha arrived in Mumbai late on Monday evening from Singapore.advertisementlast_img read more

Ford EcoSport: The wait just got shorter

first_img2014 Ford EcoSportFord India has been able to taste sky-high levels of success with its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) EcoSport. However, one complaint that many buyers have is that they have had to wait long periods, sometimes even up to six months for the vehicle to arrive, as the company has struggled with production due to supplier constraints. There is now good news for future buyers as Ford plans to introduce a third shift for production of EcoSport at its Maraimalainagar plant, which in turn would decrease long waiting periods.Lower variants of EcoSport, namely the 1.5 Ambiente, have been the ones that suffered the brunt of short supply. A few dealers still quote waiting periods of up to 3 months for this variant. Pressure on sales of these variants has been high as on one hand it is unable to generate large volume of sales, while on the other, the rupee has depreciated considerably in comparison to the dollar. The top management at Ford India has noticed that demand for the higher variants such as Titanium is huge in the beginning, while for the lower ones, it grows as the vehicle completes 2 years in the market.EcoSport was launched at a startlingly low price of Rs 5.59 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant, which led to an outrageously high number of bookings. This apart, Ford had built up considerable interest in this compact SUV through social media activity.  However, the EcoSport’s prices since then have been increased twice, once in September 2013 and the second time in January this year. since launch, the company has been able to sell 63,598 units with a peak of 6,203 in September 2013. With production slated to increase substantially, the company could possibly touch a new high soon.  advertisementlast_img read more
