MIAMI, FL – DECEMBER 29: Members of the Alabama Crimson Tide takes the field during the College Football Playoff Semifinal prior to the game against Oklahoma Sooners at the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium on December 29, 2018 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)The referees in the College Football Playoff had a rough first game. The nightcap isn’t going much better right now.Clemson’s win over Notre Dame was marred by some questionable calls and reviews, and the crew in Alabama-Oklahoma made a doozy just now. Thankfully, it was overturned.Somehow, the refs ruled the pass thrown by Kyler Murray in the screenshot below was a lateral. Alabama scooped the lose ball up and ran it in.Again, thankfully they got this right after a review, but how do you miss this in real time?Nooooooot even close to backward, y’all pic.twitter.com/zcRgk7RS1V— SI College Football (@si_ncaafb) December 30, 2018Thankfully for the refs, Alabama is about to go up three scores on Oklahoma. None of their calls will likely impact the game much.Still, they’ve got to be better than this the rest of bowl season and in the national title game on January 7.Speaking of national title games, get ready for Alabama-Clemson IV. This will be the fourth-straight year these two teams will meet in the playoff, and the third time its in the championship game.Should be a good one.
